This article remembers me of my past experience in introducing project management in an IT company.

At first, nobody care about what it is. Developers just do what they have to do in order to deliver software according to client's needs. The management only want to know the result without care how it was done.

The situation is quite difficult at my first time on that company. Since nobody care about project management, I took "an extreme way" to introduce this.

What I did was: observing how people do their job. For a week, I only came to the office to sit and observe other people while they were doing their job. Finally, I concluded that I should start from involving developers in doing teamwork and set targets for each action to do. From this little step, developers then became more structured in doing their job and became more interactive with each other. Almost each job was done on time.

From that point, I start to introduce project management methods. Until now, the company has good project management foundation and the management is satisfied with the efficient results demonstrated through this project management practice.
