With all those restrictions, I'd advise don't bother with Clarity at all for project scheduling.

Bruno,

It does look like you have to open the whole hierarchical structure. When it comes to using Clarity-MSP, my advice is: Keep It Simple.

Hi

very interesting and useful summary. I have experimented myself some of the issues you are describing.
Has anyone experienced complex project structure with the Clarity - MS-Project integration ? For instance, we are have a typical data model like 3 levels of 10 sub-projects with 100 tasks each > a structure of 100 subsprojects, with 100,000 tasks total).
There is a way to indicate subprojects are to be opened in readonly mode so you do not lock then, but it seems you have to open the complete structure when you open the highest level project in MSP.

Best Regards,

Olu,

There a few steps you must take before you can "close" a project.

First, you must ensure that all tasks have an ETC of zero, you must ensure that all tasks have a % completion of 100%, you must ensure that all resources in the project have no assignments left in the project. I hope I am not forgetting anything, but only then you can change the progress to completed using Projects/Properties/Main/Schedule (this assumes out of the box Clarity configuration).

Hi,
Just wanted to ask if you know or point me to the direction where I can find how to close a project.
I have a programme with associated projects under it, but some of the project are now completed and I will like to remove the project.

Holly,

My apologies for a late reply but I was away for the holidays.

Unfortunately, there is a lack of information on how Clarity-MSP work together. There plenty on how each one works on their own. That is why I decided to write about it.

Adrian,

My apologies for a late reply but I was away for the holidays.

The answer to your question is very short, "no". There are no settings in which you can have MSP automatically override Clarity.

I just started to use Clarity and MSP; very experienced with MSP, self learning Clarity.
This advise is great! Any ideas where to find more detailed information on this topic?
Thank you!

Hi, I have a situation here, As a practice in all MSP Tasks of all projects we are using "Fixed Duration", if i add directly a task from Clarity it automatically sets it value to "fixed Units", is there a configuration that I can set so each time i add a task from clarity it will be created as "Fixed Duration"

Thanks
