I've seen "weather forecasts" type project status reporting becoming more and more common since a few months.

I'm not sure it's such a good thing.

For one, Red/Amber/Green (RAG) is simpler with only 3 options and speaks by itself to all. 5 or 6 potential status creates non desirable fuzziness about the effective status.

Secondly, I do not know about the reliability of weather forecasts in your geographical area but in mine they are very poor in terms of reliability, they change at no notice, each new forecast forgets completely about what was said the previous time...

So, weather forecasts are not an image I would want to portray on my projects. I'll stick to the RAG updates for now.
