While PMI has undone the triangle paradigm, the DoD Performance Measurement Baseline and Paul Solomon's Performance Based Earned Value (tm) has clarified the three elements to be (1) Cost, (2) Schedule, and (3) Techncial Performance Meassures (TPM).

TPM is a formal definition in the DoD world. The TPM includes all attributes that are NOT cost or schedule.

Restoring the triangle. These are in a triangle becasue these are the three variables.

As well the US DoD use two concepts
- Cost as an indepedent variable (CAIV)
- Schedule as an indepdent variable (SAIV)

Throughput PMBOK 4th Edition the use of the term "constraint" is present, with the cocnstraints unbundled. I'd say this is simply poor editing. They're still there.</description>
