Project management has been my area of work for several years. I have worked booth as an outside consultant and an internal project manager. Eventually I returned to school at Western Carolina University were I obtained my Master's in Project Management. Since then I began leading study groups for other project managers. They found my techniques to be useful, engaging, and most importantly understanding.

In 2003 Dana Brownlee, PMP founded Professionalism Matters, Inc., a boutique professional development training and consulting firm. Her company provides interactive training workshops on a variety of topics including project management, meeting facilitation, and team building. In 2009 Professionalism Matters launched MeetingGenie.com an online resource for the latest tips, techniques, instructional videos, and other resources pertaining to meeting facilitation. Her company has produced two meeting facilitation training DVDs: “Are You Running a Meeting… or Drowning in Chaos?” and “5 Secrets to Virtually Cut Your Meeting Time in Half!” (Both are available at www.meetinggenie.com). Dana has spoken to many Project Management Institute audiences including a presentation (“The Secrets to Running Project Status Meetings that Work!) at the PMI Global Congress 2008 North America in Denver. She has been selected to speak at the 2010 International Association of Facilitators North America 2010 Conference in Chicago. A much sought after speaker and trainer, Dana has presented courses in three countries and authored a course currently being taught in five countries.
Dana’s client list includes the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Environmental Protection Agency, Emory Professional Learning Program, Georgia Power Company, Mississippi Power Company, Southface Energy Institute, Learning Tree International, OCI Chemical Corporation and many others. Dana received a BS from Spelman College, a BIE from Georgia Tech and an MBA from Emory University.
I received my Project Management Professional certification in June of 2009 after many years in a several different trades and as an IT Professional. When I sat for my Project Management Professional test in June, 2009 I was able to document 7,771 hours of combined IT project management and construction management. The construction project was a 7,000 square foot, custom home in Lakewood, Colorado. I both designed the home and drafted the blueprints in AutoCad and the project was completed on time and in budget. In parallel with this project, I managed various projects for the County Sheriffs of Colorado (CSOC)computing infrastructure hardware and Oracle systems migration from Oracle Version 8.1 to Oracle Version 10g, Standard Edition One and the complete replacement of all hardware systems.
At the same time I was also the UNIX/Linux Administrator and the Federal Grants Administrator for CSOC, so I know how to teach the art of obtaining grants as well as multi-tasking and learning to shift focus from the detail oriented view to the overall picture. I have also taught Oracle 10g DBA at the University of Colorado in early 2008 so I am well qualified to instruct CAPM and PMP to Information Services Professionals.

I have been involved in project management for over 13 years and I am a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). I have served as a project manager on numerous product development teams – some successful, and some, well, not so successful. However, I have learned from every endeavor. Now as a Program Manager for a major company in the Chicago, Illinois area, I manage a group of very talented project managers and in the process, I learn from them, and I hope they also feel that they learn from me. My goal is to provide some of that same knowledge and insight to others through pm411.org, and I hope that you will do the same.
I have 15 years of experience in Software Engineering and Project Management with the emphasis on disciplined delivery techniques. I have taught both PMP Prep Courses as well as practical 5 and 6 day Project Management immersion sessions at the Fortune 500 level.
I focus mainly on Project Management Training as a corporate culture change mechanism or as a tool to jump-start accelerated improvement situations.

I've had 30 years of industry experience, 20 of it as a project manager or supervisor of project managers. I've been PMP Certified since 2000.
Since 1985, as a "side job", I have been teaching adults, first in PC and internet applications, then in Project Management and PMP Certification. I've co-developed a 12-CD PMP Prep course, providing the voice for the audio tracks myself.
I have been developing and delivering PM Master's Certicate courses at a local college and for Boston University's Corporate Education Center for the past several years.
Here's a good part about this: I have fun. Here's a better part: I keep learning from teaching. Which leads to more fun...
and more learning ...and more
teaching...
