
Project management has been my area of work for several years. I have worked booth as an outside consultant and an internal project manager. Eventually I returned to school at Western Carolina University were I obtained my Master's in Project Management. Since then I began leading study groups for other project managers. They found my techniques to be useful, engaging, and most importantly understanding.
I am a project manager of 25 years with a background in technology. I have worked on electronic commerce, transportation and government systems for most of my career. In addition to my formal project management training and PMP certification, I have much training and experience in information technology. I am a firm believer in SDLC and ITIL for systems development.

In 2003 Dana Brownlee, PMP founded Professionalism Matters, Inc., a boutique professional development training and consulting firm. Her company provides interactive training workshops on a variety of topics including project management, meeting facilitation, and team building. A much sought after speaker and trainer, Dana has presented courses in three countries and authored a course currently being taught in five countries.

I came into the software field from telecommunications; worked with RT-11, RSX, different flavors of Unix, Pascal, Modula-II, C, C++, relational databases, networking.
As a system architect and project leader, I led and managed numerous projects gradually migrating from architect's / lead developer's role into project management. This move was formally completed in 2005, when I got my professional certification as PMP from the Project Management Institute.
I have been very fortunate in my PM career - I always had interesting projects and worked with great teams.
Of course, to deliver on my duties, I had to ensure absolute support - support of my customers, of my management, of my peers and coworkers, of my reports, and of my subcontractors and vendors.

I received my Project Management Professional certification in June of 2009 after many years in a several different trades and as an IT Professional. When I sat for my Project Management Professional test in June, 2009 I was able to document 7,771 hours of combined IT project management and construction management. The construction project was a 7,000 square foot, custom home in Lakewood, Colorado. I both designed the home and drafted the blueprints in AutoCad and the project was completed on time and in budget. In parallel with this project, I managed various projects for the County Sheriffs of Colorado (CSOC)computing infrastructure hardware and Oracle systems migration from Oracle Version 8.1 to Oracle Version 10g, Standard Edition One and the complete replacement of all hardware systems.
At the same time I was also the UNIX/Linux Administrator and the Federal Grants Administrator for CSOC, so I know how to teach the art of obtaining grants as well as multi-tasking and learning to shift focus from the detail oriented view to the overall picture. I have also taught Oracle 10g DBA at the University of Colorado in early 2008 so I am well qualified to instruct CAPM and PMP to Information Services Professionals.

Rolf Kühnast
A graduate Electronics Engineer by training, I started his professional career in the aerospace industry as a design engineer in 1970. In 1982 I joined an IT engineering company as Group Executive. During this time, I completed the Masters in Business Leadership (MBL), a 4-year part-time degree through UNISA.(University of South Africa) Many of the concepts studied were applied directly in my business environment. My business unit was one of the first companies in South Africa to use a Matrix structure, and to use Earned Value Project Management. For the success of the division, I was nominated for the client’s prestigious Chairman’s Award in 1987. I was also nominated to the Board of my parent company.
In 1994 I joined the local operation of a German Automotive sound and navigation systems manufacturer as Managing Director and in 1996 was offered a position as Group Managing Director of a Fleet Tracking Company.
I left this group in 1997 to start my own consulting and training company, specialising in Project and Strategic Management.
I have managed various projects in the IT, security, electronic and advertising industries, and have been a senior facilitator in Project Management for Damelin, a private educational institution, over the last 10 years. I have facilitated the Cambridge University International Diploma in Project Management, as well as the Project Management module for the Oxford Brookes MBA. Tom Carlos is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and member of the Sacramento Valley PMI Chapter. He has over 25 years of cumulative experience in business, technical, consulting, and training environments in both the private and public sectors. He is currently working with another partner at the California Department of Transportation performing an Independent Project Oversight Consulting (IPOC) engagement.
Tom’s experience also includes overseeing installations of accounting systems, the development of Knowledge Management Office, and he served as a Chief Operating Officer for a small web development company. Robert Prieto, Senior Vice President
Robert Prieto is senior vice president for Fluor, where he leads strategy for Fluor’s Industrial and Infrastructure group. Mr. Prieto focuses on the development and delivery of large, complex projects worldwide.
Prior to joining Fluor, Bob served as chairman of Parsons Brinckerhoff Inc. As head of PB’s board of directors, he was responsible for overseeing management performance, establishing top-level policies, and ensuring the firm’s continued long term success.

I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA, where I excelled at football, basketball, math, and art. I went to college at Princeton and earned a BS in Engineering. I then entered a career in industry, working in mining, manufacturing, metal fabricating, environmental services, and other related industries. Along the way I earned my MBA from Carnegie Mellon. After about 12 years I made a switch into the information technology field, becoming a Lotus Notes developer. I gradually moved into project management in that field. I have been involved in project management for over 13 years and I am a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
